I am truly glad to see more contribution to this issue! What are you doing to further this cause beyond this blog? Let us know so we can get involved! http://unitedblackamerica.com

ReplyDeleteA lot of our efforts are local to Seattle right now, but here are some of the things we have in the works.
ReplyDeleteWe are working with African American men currently incarcerated to address some of the issues that they say affect them most.
We will be a sponsor at an upcoming lecture by Michelle Alexander 7 p.m., January 24th at Mt. Zion Babtist Church in Seattle.
We have met with some families of some men currently incarcerate to support their ideas regarding sentencing reform.
We are speaking to our friends, families, and and colleagues about this injustice.
We are currently planning a discussion/debate of the issue at the NW Hip Hop Leadership Conference.
We will be going to Olympia, WA on February 14th to speak to State gov't about sentencing reform.
Thank you for asking!
